There is a difference between feeling ready for something and God deciding that you are ready for something. Often, I have always thought no I can’t do this or I can’t do that but God has deemed me ready therefore he makes it happen. For example, I never thought I would be able to sing by myself in front of a crowd and yet I did it for an open mic night. During sound check I forgot the words to the song and thought it would be impossible for me to perform.
Somehow, when the time came for me to sing I was able to do it because God was with me. I can only explain what I felt as an out of body experience. Whilst I stood on stage and sang I was there but at the same time I felt like I wasn’t. It was as if I was in an empty room singing to God himself. Why would I be afraid to sing to God? Someone who is my friend, my father and my saviour. Not once did I stutter or stumble struggling to remember forgotten words.
I sang Amazing grace by Hillsong United which summed up my feelings towards God at that moment in time in one song. ‘I once was lost but now I am found. Was blind but now I see’ perfectly explains how I felt when I decided to follow Christ. ‘Raising up the broken to life’. When you have a phone for a really long time it becomes slow and starts to act up. It doesn’t work properly. It is basically broken. As soon as you get a new phone you realize the extent of how broken your old phone really was. It is the exact same thing with your faith. You may not notice you are living a life of immorality but the moment you decide to change you will see a massive difference. Your spirit may be on the brink of death and the word of God has the ability to revive it and nurse it back to health.
1 Corinthians 10:13 states that God will never give you more than you can handle. In times when you feel disheartened or lack motivation know that God is always with you even when you feel alone. Open your heart to him and watch the blessings he has for you take place in your life.
